      GRACE AMBASSADORS
      MINISTRY UPDATE

      February 5th, 2022

      The Faith of Who?

Romans 3:22 and Galatians 2:16 have been studied for a long time by those in ivory towers to determine the meaning of the “faith of Jesus Christ”.

What is not among the leading answers is the wrongheaded idea that Jesus needed to have faith like we have faith.

      Is Jesus faithful? Yes.
Do we need to have faith in him? Yes.
Is “faith of Christ” a truth contrasted to the “works of the law”? Yes.

Did Jesus need to have faith as we do? Now you’ve lost the script.

If “faith of Christ” means that Jesus needed to have faith in the truth (though he stated clearly that he was the Truth), then would not the phrase “faith of God” mean that God needs to have faith in the truth, too?

“For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?” – Romans 3:3

No, God does not need faith either. This speaks about the righteousness of God and the wrongness of man (Rom 3:4).

This is also what Paul says in Phi 3:9 about the “faith of Christ”; it is the righteousness which is of God by faith:

“…not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith…”

Beware of so-called solutions to problems that deny the Bible or diminish the deity of Christ. Neither are good places to go.

      For knowledge of the Truth,

      Justin Curtis Johnson
