      GRACE AMBASSADORS
      MINISTRY UPDATE

      May 28th, 2022

      Prove All Things

“Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings.” – Thessalonians 5:19-20

With this sort of instruction, who needs the Bible? Follow the Spirit’s urging and listen to the prophetic claims, right?

God’s guidance will come from inside you and through fresh revelations, dreams, and prophetic visions.

      Next verse.

      “Prove all things” – 1 Thess 5:21

Woah! Stop quenching the Spirit, Paul! You should not speak words of doubt, skepticism, or criticism against God’s anointed.

If God intended the authority of the Bible to take a back seat to visions, revelations, and gut feelings, then he would not have given this instruction.

What are we to prove all things against? What is the measure of truth? How do we determine if a prophet is true or false, or whether the Spirit is talking or it is just last night’s dinner?

The answer is the written inspired words of God, especially the words of our Lord Jesus Christ spoken through the apostle Paul. We are to prove all things against the word of God rightly divided, and what does not find proof there has no proof of being true.

Got a vision? Had a dream? Hear the Spirit? Prove it. Open a Bible. Compare. If it is beyond compare, then it is not something I have to hold to in belief.

God values his words. They hold all things accountable.

      For love of the truth,

      Justin “prove it” Johnson
