The Problem in Orlando
By Justin JohnsonThe Orlando shooter had problems. Not the least of which was his Islamic studies. (One place he attended was called the Fundamental Islamic Knowledge Seminary.)
It is easy to forget that wrong actions are the consequences of wrong doctrine (1 Cor 15:33). Whether he was a “true” Muslim or not, nobody wants to talk about the effects of wrong doctrine.
Without Christ man’s mind operates in sin and darkness, out of vanity, ignorance, and alienation from the true God (Eph 4:17-19).
In Orlando sin reigned. The grace of Jesus Christ was rejected.
The shooter acted from the wrong doctrine that Allah finds the killing of sinners acceptable today. Christians are just as wrong when they are taught similar kingdom doctrine contrary to the dispensation of God’s grace.
It goes without saying that the shooter did not understand God’s dispensation of grace. We are not God’s tools of vengeance, we are God’s ambassadors of grace today (2 Cor 5:18-20).
Islam has no power to save by its teaching of Islamic law. Their law doctrine can only kill, if not men then men’s hope. Wrong doctrine is a sin.
The people who died were victims of sin. The shooter was driven by sin.
“But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 5:20-21
Rightly divided Bible doctrine is not the solution you will hear from Fox, CNN, CBS, or the White House. They would like to replace all religion with the secular acceptance of sin and doctrinal apathy.
Religious men of conviction fight against this.
Boko Haram and ISIS claim to fight against the unrighteousness of the West. When President Obama visits Muslim countries he receives strong opposition for his promotion of homosexuality and “Western” progressive values toward sin.
The Bible does not take sin nor wrong doctrine lightly.
The Bible truth is that sin is unacceptable to God, and does deserve death, but Christ died in our place for sins. God is withholding judgment in the present dispensation so that men will believe and be saved. Today, God is dispensing grace to an ungodly world for salvation (Rom 4:5).
They say Islam is a religion of peace, but without grace peace can only be achieved through war. Islam has no way to offer peace in a world of sin without judgment and jihad.
Islam is lacking the grace of God in Jesus Christ. The grace of God can change things bullets and laws cannot.
Our weapons are not carnal(2 Cor 10:4). Grace is our doctrinal weapon. We fight for the minds and hearts of men with the mystery of the gospel (Eph 6:12-20). It is the foolishness of preaching that God has chosen to save them that believe (1 Cor 1:21).
If we are losing this battle, it is because too many Christians carry only enough doctrinal ammunition to load a squirt gun.
While the world analyzes the politics of tragedy. You already know the problem (Eph 4:18). Prepare yourself to make all men see the fellowship of the mystery of Christ.
