The Importance of Thanksgiving

The Importance of Thanksgiving

 

 

Throughout the Scriptures we see believing people giving thanks to God.  Thanksgiving is good and it is the WILL of God for us!

 

 

It is important to be in God’s will and give thanksgiving as it honors and praises God. This is taught in Scripture.

 

 

It is God’s will that we give thanks!  Knowing this is His will, we can know that grace is at work in us when we can give thanksgiving no matter the circumstances in our lives. We understand our circumstances do not define us but our faith is in not in our circumstance, but in the Lord God Jesus Christ.

 

1Th 5:18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 

 

 

 

Let us take a look at some more verses on thanksgiving in the Apostle Paul’s epistles meant for all of us who believe today.

 

2Co 4:15  For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

 

That the thanksgiving of many may overflow by His plentiful, unending, (abundant) grace for us, to the glory of God.  Thanksgiving by believers is like the surge of a wave with our gratitude for our redemption and the work He has done for us and in us!

 

Php 4:6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

 

 

I believe such confidence in God, such trust, that we may put off the anxiety of the world constantly beating against our spirit. Our hope and faith are in Him not in ourselves or worldly affairs.

 

Col 2:7  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

 

 

Knowing what stablishes us in the faith is so worthy of thanksgiving!  It is the gospel given to the Apostle Paul by the risen Jesus Christ, the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery!

 

Rom 16:25  Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 

 

 

 

Col 4:2  Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

 

 

We continue in prayer with thanksgiving because we have believed the gospel of the grace of God and have reconciliation with Him! The Lord LIVES in us by His Spirit.

 

 

The Holy Spirit which has also sealed us unto the day of redemption, and is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of our body!  This means we can pray to Him at ALL times! We have OPEN ACCESS to the God of all creation, who hears our prayers, no matter where we are!

 

Rom_5:2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

 

 

Eph_2:18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

 

 

Eph_3:12  In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

 

 

Eph_1:14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

 

 

 

1Ti 4:3  Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

 

 

 

We do not believe the hypocritical teachings against God, such as the forbidding of marrying! Nor do we abstain from meats as some religions teach unbiblically, mixing law with grace.  God created us to receive His bounty with thanksgiving, because we have believed God and know the truth of such things.

 

1Ti 4:4  For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

 

 

 

We are admonished to give thanks in everything! It is important because this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you!
