SWORDS Bible Study: What Are Our Spiritual Blessings Part 4
by Mari
This week we carry on with discovering what our blessings are in heavenly places.
Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Last week we saw that we have been delivered from power of darkness, that we have eternity with God, that we are spiritually blessed in heavenly places, and what is our position in Christ.
Blessed in Our Liberty
We have liberty because Christ made us FREE from the law. Our liberty is not a license to feed the flesh or sin; but by love to serve one another. Our liberty is where the Spirit of the Lord is…and the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus mad us free from the law of sin and death, and the Spirit of God dwells in us!
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?In Liberty We are: Blessed to be Free From Condemnation, Dead to the Law
We are now DEAD to the law by the body of Christ and we should now bring fruit unto God! We have been redeemed from the curse of the law!
Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Rom 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
In Liberty We are: Blessed Being Dead to the World and Free From the Power of Sin
The preaching of the cross is foolishness to the world, but WE GLORY IN THE CROSS OF OUR LORD, because now the world is crucified to us and us to the world! We are no longer subject to ordinances, to the laws but have been made free from sin! We have become servants of righteousness in Christ to God, in that Jesus Christ was made to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
2Co_5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.Blessed in Our Service:
1Co 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
Think about this…we do not labor alone but together WITH God! We are co-workers with God in our willingness to work according to His plans! Our labor can sometimes seem to be in vain if we focus simply on results, but when it is done for and with God it can never be in vain!
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
We are blessed to be able ministers by the Holy Spirit who according to the mystery is not writing laws in men’s hearts today, but placing US into the body of Christ! (Ro 15:16) We are NOT under Israel’s new testament, but because we have been given the manifold wisdom of God (Eph 3:10) we can understand and explain both Gods earthly purpose through Israel and His heavenly purpose through the Body of Christ
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
We have been blessed with a vital job, to carry the most important message for the world to hear which is the gospel of the grace of God. We are to deliver this message which IS the power of God unto salvation. (Rom 1:16).
God has equipped the believer to service. We have been blessed by God that He has given us good works to perform for Him, NOT unto salvation, but because now that we have believed these works are acceptable to Him! He blessed us today with the completed word of God to know Him and how to please Him! It is a blessing to know that we are His workmanship and that He has told us how to walk and work in this world for Him!
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Eph_2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Next week…part 5.
THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES
“I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved … that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”– 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJB)
