SWORDS Bible Study: Spiritual Blessings Part 2
In this study we are discovering what our spiritual blessings are in heavenly places.
Eph_1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
We have seen that once we are saved we have full access to God, we are adopted by God and accepted in the Beloved, becoming children of God, members of the body of Christ with not only an inheritance but the inheritance of Christ, and we are made a new creature in the body of Christ, completely reconciled with our God! AND …we have only gotten started!
No one, That is right, no one can bring a charge against us! God is totally for us because once we believed the Father only sees us in His Son! We have been fully justified by God because we are His elect in Christ.
Rom 8:31-34 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
We are no longer condemned as sinners because we are in Christ!
Rom 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Justified and reconciled is ultimately important because once we were alienated and enemies of God! It is a real blessing to be justified and reconciled with our Creator!
Now having been reconciled to God by Jesus Christ, we have been blessed with a purpose and mission, the ministry of reconciliation.
2Co 5:18-19 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
We have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Wonderful, wonderful peace knowing we are right with God because of what Jesus did for us!
Rom 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
We are no longer slaves to sin! We are blessed now with the choice not to sin!
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
We have been freed from the Law and condemnation! We are dead to the Law!
Rom 7:4a Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ;
Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Rom 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Where before we were dead in our sins, we have now been quickened…made alive in Christ!
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
We not only have redemption of our souls, but a future redemption of our body!
Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
We have just begun this study of our blessings! We have been given ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
I believe it is an amazing thing to bring to mind all the blessings we have and those that will be ours in the future. To know these blessings makes our life a life of hope in the midst of a sinful and often painful world. While feeling alone, lonely or overwhelmed with grief, sorrow upon sorrow or trouble upon trouble, or taking in the troubles of others, we need to know who we are and what we have NOW that is real and wondrous to appropriate into our minds and lives, to meditate upon, to encourage us and help us to overwhelm evil with good. (Ro 12:21)
It is also good to remember and consider that this life is but a fleeting moment (2 Cor 4:17) but our blessings are ours forever!
Next week Part 3….
THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES
“I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved … that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”– 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJB)
