Know the Covenants
Do you know how many covenants God gives in the Bible?
You might be aware of the two popular ones because of the way the Bible is divided.
There are more.
Don’t believe me? Make your own list of God’s covenants. Prophecy is full of them.
It is good to know the obligations into which God has entered, what they pertain to, and to whom he gave them.
You will never find a scripture speaking about a covenant made with the mystery church, the Body of Christ.
That is because the apostle Paul says the covenants pertain to Israelites (Romans 9:4). The Body of Christ is not Israel.
Knowing the covenants is important for knowing what God did in the past and what he will do in the future.
This is why when you read the law and the prophets they are shadows of things to come, but the body is of Christ (Col 2:17).
What God is doing now (the body) is a result of Christ’s finished work and not his unfinished covenanted work.
Today’s dispensation of grace is free of covenants (a mystery), but the past and future are not.
