Identifying Christian Workmen
Many fans, followers, and spectators wear jerseys, but that does not mean they are players.
You can identify the players because they are the ones on the field running the plays. Only the players need to study and use the playbook.
The Bible is the Christian playbook. It is studied and used by the players (2 Tim 3:17). They are called workmen (2 Tim 2:15).
Let’s see if we can find them in the world’s most Christian nation. According to recent surveys…
92% of American homes have a Bible.
70% of Americans claim to be Christian.
31% read the Bible at least once every 30 days.
24% believe the Bible is the word of God.
9% read the Bible daily.
6% are reported to have a Biblical worldview.
There are millions of fans, but very few players.
If you’re a Christian and don’t know the will of God, you need to study the playbook to learn what it says.
If you know the play, then perhaps its time you put it to practice and do what it says.
If you are a player, be gentle when playing with a fan. They may be wearing a jersey, but they are not used to getting hit with even a few verses.
The Bible purposes to create faithful workmen, not merely fans or followers.
