Must Sell Everything Sale!

Now is a great time to impress upon your friends that fail to rightly divide the need for them to obey the Lord’s instructions to sell all that they have (Luke 18:22).

Their houses have been freshly stocked with new possessions this week because of Christmas. If you are poor enough you might just be the one who has a right to their goods.

Their failure to rightly divide leads them to the water gospel of Acts 2:38 and the communal pattern in Acts 2:44-45:

“[the believers] sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” – Acts 2:45

I can be “every man”, and I may need that new tablet you now possess.

If they refuse, tell them they have denied their own faith, and should admit their mid-Acts dispensational tendencies!

Your friends may laugh you off as being too facetious, but it is a harmless way to expose their error of following the pattern of Matt-John and Pentecost for the church today.

Our pattern is not what the kingdom believers did in Acts 2-4 in preparation for their prophesied tribulation.

Our pattern as the church is what the Lord revealed starting in the middle of the book of Acts to Paul, the apostle of the church today.

From Paul we learn that we are ambassadors of God’s grace, not beggars of men’s goods. We ought to provide for our own necessities (1 Tim 5:8; 1 Tim 6:8).

It is harder for most people to give up their goods than their doctrine. Use that to your advantage to make all men see the fellowship of the mystery (Eph 3:9).

When they want to follow Paul’s pattern, they will listen to Paul’s gospel.
