      SWORDS Bible Study: Why Is Paul Your Apostle? (He was not one of the 12!) PART 9

      By Mari

      (All caps for emphasis only)

      Let us take a look at some of the differences in the gospel given to the 12 Apostles of Israel during Jesus’ earthly ministry, and the gospel given to the Apostle Paul by the Risen Jesus from heaven.

      Apostle PETER: The gospel given to the 12 Apostles for Israel was prophesied, KNOWN by the prophets.

      Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

      Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

      Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

      Apostle PAUL: The gospel given to the Apostle Paul was NEVER KNOWN before it was given to Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven. It was a mystery kept SECRET and HID in God from the beginning of the world.

      Rom_16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

      Eph_3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

      Apostle PETER: Peter spoke ONLY to Israel, with the one exception of Cornelius in Acts 10, which was an ensample of what God had already begun to work… as Paul was already commissioned in Acts 9

      Apostle PAUL: Spoke to the Jews but predominantly to Gentiles. He was the Apostle to the Gentiles.

      Act_13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

      Rom_11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

      Apostle PETER: Taught the cross as an INDICTMENT against Israel!

      Act 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

      Act 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

      Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

      Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

      Apostle PAUL: GLORIED in the cross of Christ! He was told by the risen Jesus Christ to tell us that the death, burial and resurrection was for the forgiveness of sins…for salvation for ALL who would believe!

      Gal_6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

      1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

      1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

      1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

      1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

      Apostle PETER: His solution for the murdering their Messiah is to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins.

      Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

      Apostle PAUL: His solution is to PREACH THE GOSPEL, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

      1Co_1:17 For Christ sent me NOT to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

      Apostle PETER: Is PREACHING PROPHECY, information that was foretold.

      Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

      Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

      Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

      Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

      Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

      Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

      Act 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

      Act 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

      Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

      Act 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

      Act 3:23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

      Act 3:24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

      Act 3:25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

      (There are more examples of Peter teaching from prophecy…it is a good study to do, and I encourage you to do so. To study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim 2:15)

      Apostle PAUL: Is preaching a NEWLY REVEALED GOSPEL, from the RISEN and GLORIFIED Christ, based on a once hidden mystery, BUT NOW is made manifest to the world!

      Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to MY GOSPEL, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, ACCORDING TO THE REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY, which was KEPT SECRET since the world began,

      Rom 16:26 BUT NOW IS MADE MANIFEST, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

      Eph 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

      Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery;

      The gospel given to the Apostle Paul was NOT known by the prophets…was not known in the world as it was KEPT SECRET, hid in God, until it was given to Paul for us today! And the Lord through the Apostle Paul tells us why exactly:

      1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

      1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

      More next week!
